We hope to see you there!

RIP Dave Cushman

News reached us from the UK today that a great friend of Irish beekeeping, Dave Cushman, passed away yesterday.  Dave had been ill for some time, but nonetheless it comes as a great shock.

Dave will be remembered by beekeepers in these islands for his very active role in BIBBA and his enthusiasm for the FIBKA Gormanston summer school, as evidenced in these reviews of the summer school.  He was an active and highly valued contributor to the Irish beekeeping list.  However it is for perhaps the best beekeeping website in the world, http://www.dave-cushman.net/bee/newhome.html that Dave will be best remembered.

Dave, you will be sorely missed.

RIP Dave Cushman.

Simon Rees, CDBKA chair.

Spring events – and beginners’ course full

It’s shaping up to be a busy year for the Co. Dublin BKA.  For the second year running our beginners’ course is full and the waiting list is at least 5 people long.  This Sunday we have the bee health seminar mentioned below, and on Monday, the 24th we have our AGM.  On Monday the 7th February we have our first lecture, from the very knowledgeable Keith Pierce. CDBKA members will be receiving the latest newsletter this week with more detailed news.

We look forward to meeting our members old and new at one of our Spring events, where you can swap stories of bees in the snow and pay your 2011 subs.
